Fishing Related Movies That Broadcast in China
Maybe you still remeber that we ended up the 2009 'Fishing News China Today' with two famous and funny Carton Movies about Fish which designed by Walt Disney.
Here I mention it again because I'd think most of the Chinese Fly Fishermen began to know and get invovled in Flyfishing from a movie named 'A River Runs through It' of the year 1992. The movie is flat but the flyfishing scenes do attract many 'Christ's disciples' who are fishermen. 'all existence seems to fade to a being with my soul and memories... and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm...' That's it, flyfishing and life.
Another Fishing related movie is 'The Valley of Light' of the year 2005. There are no ghost in the world but angel. The angel is the best fisherman... Views of Fishing Forum which derive from Google is Likely to retreat from China
Fishing Forum is a great place for worldwide fishermen to share fishing experience and knowledge. Some wonderful fishing forum may have a community for Trade and Ads Post, some fishing forum allow users to have a signature which could contain a link. That's a great function of fishing forum I think. But It's a shame that fishing forums are managed manually by some administors. There are no prints definition of spam, your posts (with a link) are not allowed and your account is banned without proper reasons are happened all the time. Should we let fishing forum much more harmonious? Nowdays, ads are everywhere to be banned. Rather than prohibition, friendly design of fishing forum is more workable. If we take ads as information share, we could allow every ip post one ad a day and keep 5 alive at most, that maybe a solution of spam. Read More... (top)
Watch FLW on CCTV5 and China Fish 2010 in Beijing
As a Chinese fisherman or a football fan in China, we are lucky because we can watch football games, as well FLW on CCTV5 for free. It's a great feast, isn't it? I don't exactly know when the CCTV5 began to broadcast FLW but my last watch of FLW on it was 2008. It's a way for Chinese fishermen to learn from the world fishing contest and to join it in the near future.
China Fish is another way for Chinese fishermen and Chinese Fishing Tackle suppliers to communicate with the worldwide anglers, bait shops and other fishing tackle shops. The 20th China Fish will open in 28th, Feb. in Beijing, it's a supplement of ICAST and EFTTEX. Fishing Tackle suppliers from Weihai, Dachang, Yangzhou, Cixi, Hunan, Shanghai and other places will attend the China Fish. (top)
Figures on Big Game Reels, Trolling Reels or other Fishing Reels
What do all the figures mean on a Fishing Reel? Do you have them all clear?
Take Fly Reel as a example. A description like this Fly Reel #3/4 that means a fly reel could load line weight 3 or 4 lines to flyfishing. 10W Jigging Reel, 15W, 18W, 20W, 30W, 40W, 50W, 70W, 80W and 130W Trolling Reel or Big Game Reel are for line weight 10lbs, 15lbs, 18lbs, 20lbs...130lbs lines.
Yeah, it's as simple as you see it. But in the East Countries like Japan and Korea, they would like mark the reels 1000 as a unit or 10 as a unit like Shimano 1000 Spinning Reel, Shimano 2000 Spinning Reel. The size of Fishing Hook doesn't mean the bigger the number the bigger the hook or the smaller the number the smaller the hook. It's depends on which brand and what kind of fishing hook. "Nian" with "Yu" (Fish in Chinese Spring Festival)
We Chinese name the Eve before our new year's day "Chu Xi Ye", the family reunion, set on fireworks, fires in the open air or at yard to drive the monster "Nian" or stay together to talk and pray for a better new year. Today what I wanna share is our feast in "Chu Xi" and "The Lunar New Year". "Yu" is the keyword of our Spring Festival feast, in English what I tell is "Fish". In even every family's Spring Festival feast you can find the same dishes the Fish. Whatever food in our warehouse or money in the bank are "Yu"(Savings), what I am trying to say is "savings" and "fish" pronounce the same in Chinese as "Yu", in other words Fish stands for harvest, happiness and good luck. That's the reason "Yu"(Fish) is the most important menu in Spring Festival.
After you know why we eat Fish in Spring Festival, I wanna tell how we eat Fish: First, we Chinese usually eat fish in whole, we don't cut it in to pieces to cook; The second is we always point the respectable or the elder in the family the grandfather with the Fish Head, usually the grandfather will let a grandchild to eat the Fish Head and then the Fish Tail, that means the grandfather love his grandchild and wanna him to do things with a start and completion. The last but not the least, if you are a guest in Spring Festival you'd better know your host is traditional or not, if he's very traditional my adice for you is don't touch the Fish Dishes because you can eat up the host's good luck of the following year. I heard of using "Wood Fish" to cast guests when Spring Festival, that because the host wanna "Yu" last longer and don't embarrass his guests eaten the Fish up.
In Xiangshan County of Ningbo, there is "Fish Dance", very like the Dragon Dance is impressive. "Catfish" in Pinyin is "Nian Yu", it's very lucky which means every year with harvest and savings. Lotus in Pinyin is also "Lian" , so there is the picture below a kind of "Nian Hua" .
Before the coming "Tiger" New Year, I bless our customers, friends and families "Nian Nian You Yu, Nian Nian Da Ji". I almost forget that 2010 China Lunar New Year's Day is Valentine's Day, so I hope every pair of lovers are sweet and happy.

Osprey Fishing
I really appreciate every chance to communicate and learn from my readers. In this month articles, I wanna share with you some fantastic old Fishing Methods in China. The first one is Osprey Fishing. I am sure that not every one of you have had a chance to see an Osprey catching fish. So when I'd remembered that I was a child, I often saw a fisherman with his Ospreys at grey dawn or at the radiance of the sunset sailing a single wood boat in a river or a lake. I really cherish this memory more than words can descripe. Ospreys are trained to fishing, they sit on a long bamboo rod, which is also used to drive the boat, at the order of the fisherman, before they are released into water, the fisherman have to tie a rope on the bottom of the osprey's neck, so that the fish it catch won't be eaten, except this all the fishing process in my opinion is harmony and mirable. Shanghai Expo Special
Welcome to Shanghai Expo! Long time no updates, it's the best period of a year for fishing, isn't? This weather of this year is a bit abnormal, time to warm up but it's always overtaking by the cold wave and rains. Earthquake here, earthquake there, it seems that the end of the world is really coming, 2012 is nearby. Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a disaster to the fishery, even worth to most of the wildlife. It definitely makes the anglers/fishermen unhappy. Something happened around me makes me feel upset too. You don't need a license for fishing in China, so you'll find some people spend all methods they can to bring all fish back home. They fishing, they netting and they poisoning. Yeah, it’s happening here in Shanghai, what a pity. The U.K. takes responsibility of the Oil Spill, but who will take care the poisoning affairs?
Maybe, most of the anglers/fishers just want to run away from the city, a bigger city means a flood of people, everyday you face the faces, face the computer, face the lights and face kinds of electronics. I am living in a rental building, the surrounding is not too bad because it’s surburbs of Shanghai. One day, I find out a pair of swifts mount their love nest above the entrance of the building. It shows that city not only makes you and me overwhelming sometimes, to the worse, it ruins the life of the wildlife.
Better city, better life! The slogan of Shanghai Expo. I hope in the bottom of my heart it’s not only a better city, better life for human beings but also a better city for all of the wildlife till the end of the world. (top)

Fin Soap is never Chinese
As a Chinese I hate Fin Soap, I am sorry that Fin Soap is origin from China on records. But as ordinary Chinese, we ever never consume Sharks, Fin Soap. I have to confess that there is a Chinese saying goes he who hunts two hares leaves one and loses the other(Fish instade, Polar Bear is far far away), but I or friends nearby ever never eat hares at all. So when comes to Fin Soap, I hope my international friends don't mention China. I regret for the pollution that happened in Southern China caused death of more than 400 million kilos fishes and the oil spill in Dalian of Northern China.
Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd, "The Cove" tell us Japan should stop killing sharks, whales and dolphins. We do not hope to see a prosperous commercial longline fishery but a balance sea world. And we do hope every deep sea big game fishing angler to release what you have after that wonderful challenge. The Shark win and we win. Thanks! (top)
